EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Barnier tests positive for COVID-19

Michel Barnier, EU’s chief Brexit negotiator announced he has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a tweet published on Thursday, the 69-year-old official said he is “in good spirits, following all the necessary instructions.”

“Dear Michel Barnier, I wish you a quick recovery. We are wholeheartedly with you,” Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen tweeted.

COVID-19 outbreak has forced the EU and the UK to postpone trade talks scheduled for this week. Yet, on Wednesday evening, the two sides exchanges draft legal texts on their future relationship.
